Tissue Deficits
A few words about tissue deficits
Tissue deficits can arise from a number of causes, such as trauma, tumor resection, or congenital anomalies. They can occur anywhere on the body or face and cause serious functional and aesthetic problems, having a significant impact on both the daily life of patients and their external appearance.
In our clinic, a wide variety of surgeries can be applied to treat these deficits including autologous treatments, i.e. the use of tissues (free flaps) by the patient’s own body in the affected area. This technique is particularly effective due to the fact that the transplanted tissue is more easily adopted in the area where it is transferred, while the result achieved is more natural-looking.
Each tissue deficit case is special and unique; this is why during your visit the deficit will be thoroughly examined and all possible solutions will be discussed in detail.
The procedure in brief
The type of surgery that will be performed to cover a tissue deficit depends largely on the extent of the affected area. Surgery and tissue transplantation with microsurgical techniques may be required to achieve a successful result, but in cases where the deficit is smaller, less invasive methods may be used.
Our specialization in Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery is a special “weapon” for the selection of the most appropriate invasive technique for each deficit.
After the restoration
The postoperative program, which will be proposed after the correction of the deficit, will largely depend on the extent of the surgery performed. In case of pain during recovery, you will be prescribed analgesic medication. Finally, you will be given detailed and clear postoperative instructions on the care and management of the affected area, which you should follow closely.
