Sculptra®
Sculptra®
What is Sculptra®
Sculptra® is a minimally invasive procedure that helps restore volume. It can be used either on the face or on the body, mainly for the formation of firmer buttocks. It is essentially a synthetic injectable material, also known as L-polylactic acid.
Unlike other products such as hyaluronic acid (fillers), Sculptra® is thought to naturally stimulate the body to produce its own collagen, resulting in a more natural, youthful look that lasts up to 2 years.
It is a material that is completely biocompatible and biodegradable and has been used for over three decades. Side effects from Sculptra® are usually transient and minor, such as redness, mild bruising (bruising), small blisters, tenderness, mild pain or swelling.
The procedure in brief
Sculptra® is injected into a layer of skin called the dermis, especially in areas where fat and volume have been lost. By stimulating collagen production, it acts progressively and lifts make it smoother and tighten the skin. The results appear naturally and gradually after each application. Injections are applied at intervals of at least 30-40 days, during which time it is decided whether additional injections are required. Usually, depending on the injection site, 3 to 4 sessions are required. The pain becomes very tolerable after the application of topical anesthetic ointment. The duration of each session is about 20 minutes depending on the number of areas to be treated and the results you wish to achieve.
Duration of Sculptra®
Results vary from person to person. In many cases, they last up to 2 years. Small corrective applications may be needed to maintain the desired results.
Sculptra® on the buttocks
