Labiaplasty
Why opt for vaginoplasty/labiaplasty?
The image of the female external genitalia may cause any woman regardless of her age embarrassment, especially in her sex life. The onset of problems usually occurs after childbirth, however, it is also an issue for women without children, as well as younger women. Most commonly, women are concerned about the lengthening or hypertrophy of the lips, which may occur on both sides of the vulva or, more commonly, on only one side.
The operation in short
Correction of labia minora is considered a routine operation with excellent results. The inner lips of the vagina can acquire a natural look without affecting the aesthetics of the area and the erogenous zones. What we seek to achieve is the excision of the excess tissue, so that they rest on the inner surface of the outer lips, while remaining slightly more protruding. After two months the scars are almost invisible.
Recovery is very fast, while the operation offers immediate removal of any feelings of stress and embarrassment.
Medication
In our clinic, a complete medical history is always taken before each surgery. As a precaution, over-the-counter medicines or herbal products should not be taken before and for 3 days after surgery. It is also considered necessary to avoid taking non-steroid, anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin (salospir), ibuprofen (Nurofen), diclofenac, and any other anticoagulant or antiplatelet drug.
Smoking
If you are a smoker you should try to stop smoking for at least 1 week before and 1 week after the surgery as this will dramatically reduce the incidence of postoperative complications and help achieve the best possible result.
Recovery from vaginoplasty/labiaplasty
Vaginoplasty/labiaplasty is performed within the framework of the day clinic. For the first few days following the surgery, you will experience minor discomfort but you will be able to walk and perform the majority of tasks that are part of your everyday routine. Ideally, you should avoid exercising for the first week following the surgery and it is important that you avoid sexual intercourse for a period of four weeks.
Patients must ensure that the area of the vulva and the labia is kept clean, washing it with water, chamomile, or green soap and avoiding commercial soaps for one-week post-surgery. Sutures are absorbable and thus will disappear on their own.
In rare cases, patients may experience mild discomfort for a few months after the surgery.
Possible complications of vaginoplasty/labiaplasty
Vaginoplasty/labiaplasty complications are rare but as with any surgery, there are still some minor risks. These include bleeding, infection, poor healing, vaginal numbness, or a feeling of discomfort lingering over the area.
