Hair Transplant
FUE(Follicular Unit Extraction) hair transplantation is essentially the only definitive way to treat alopecia in men and women and falls under the surgical treatment of hair loss. One should resort to this method of transplantation when conservative treatments are no longer sufficient and alopecia has become evident. In any case, the implant should be applied in parallel with conservative treatments to optimize the result. Now the process of hair implantation has evolved and simplified to such an extent that patients can immediately resume their daily activities, without showing signs that they have undergone a hair implantation session.
There is a growing trend worldwide to treat hair loss in a permanent and natural way and hair implantation is no longer taboo.
The procedure in brief
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) hair transplant or individual hair follicle transplant method is the most modern method of hair implantation and tends to be established worldwide, as it is minimally invasive. This procedure uses hair follicles extracted from the back of the head without creating a permanent linear scar.
Despite the effectiveness of the method, it does not cease to be more difficult and demanding for the doctor, as it requires large experience due to the great attention to detail required.
Advantages of the FUE hair transplantation
The advantages of FUE hair transplantation over the older FUT or Strip technique are clearly more and of greater importance- a fact which contributed to the adoption of the former and the gradual displacement of the latter. FUE hair transplantation has an advantage over the FUT-Strip technique because:
- There is little to no bleeding
- It is minimally invasive, is performed under local anesthesia, and allows immediate return to daily activities
- It allows the exact calculation of the number of hairs that will be collected, thus maintaining the reserves of the donor area so that it can be reused in the event of a future session. Therefore, it allows hair to be transplanted again in the future if required
- Does not leave linear scars or marks on the graft site (donor area)
- No wound suturing is required in the donor area, thus minimizing the chances of infection, inflammation, or wound disruption.
- Has little to no complications (eg swelling of the forehead, bursitis)
- Allows hair follicles to be taken from various areas of the body, such as the chest, back, and beard, without leaving scars
- It involves little to no pain
- It is ideal for transplanting both small areas, such as the eyebrows, and large areas, without leaving linear scars.
