Facial Fat Transfer and Implants
Why opt for permanent injectable fillers (fat injections)
Fillers can offer excellent results in the fight against deep wrinkles on the face, but also in restoring lost volume. These are non-invasive treatments performed in the clinic under local anesthesia.
Autologous fat
Autologous fat (i.e. fat that comes from our own body) falls under the category of permanent implants. It is extracted using a very fine needle from areas that show excess local fat and is re-injected in the desired area, permanently increasing the volume. Only 60-70% of the transferred fat usually survives; this is why a kind of overcorrection is sought initially so that when the excess fat is absorbed, the result is the desirable one.
Fat injections can be applied to the facial area to improve deep wrinkles, scars, as well as to strengthen the lips, and areas that have become thinner over time. The great advantage of the autologous fat transfer technique is that the results are permanent. This surgery can be repeated as many times as needed to achieve the desired result.
Recovery after the use of fillers
Duration of treatment
The autologous fat injection technique usually takes 30 to 45 minutes and is performed under local anesthesia.
Recovery time
After the autologous fat transfer procedure, the area where the fat was transferred will appear slightly red and swollen for a few hours, but if the treatment has been applied to the lip area, slight swelling may persist for a longer period of time. In some cases, there will be some bruising, but it will completely subside after two weeks.
Refraining from exercising
Patients should avoid intense exercising on the day of treatment.
Final results after the use of filler
The results of the treatment are mostly immediate. Initially, the result will be slightly stronger due to the aforementioned overcorrection, but also due to the swelling of the tissues which will subside very soon. However, the final result will be visible in 24 to 72 hours.
